Last night we played in a converted cattle auction ring! The sound was fantastic and the crowd was even better - thank you so much for being the friendliest crowd yet (and that's saying something)! Funny looking out the window before the gig and seeing people look very confused as they got out of their cars - a pretty extraordinary venue :-)
Today has been a big day for me as it's album launch day! We broke 40 in the iTunes singer-songwriter chart around lunchtime and I've had loads of lovely comments and emails, so thank you for that! I hope you're all enjoying the tunes :-) We explored Harrogate today in the sunshine on our way up to Seahouses and had a stroll through the beautiful park. Nothing like a bit of April sunbathing! We're in an absolutely gorgeous place for the gig tonight, but more on that tomorrow! H xxx

Happy Easter everybody! Last night we were in Durham which is such a gorgeous city! We had some time to explore before the gig, so went round the Cathedral and wow, it was stunning!! Loads of music going on in the streets too and heard the choir practicing for the Easter service. Met a whole load of lovely people at the gig and managed to avoid getting lost in the rabbit warren that makes up the backstage area. Then today we drove through the Yorkshire Dales in the sunshine to get to Skipton and I've never seen countryside like it - it's easy to take England for granted, but it's so beautiful. Tonight we're at The Mart Theatre in Skipton, which doubles up as a livestock auction house and music venue - why not?! Tomorrow will be a big day as Red & Gold will finally be out officially! Can't wait to share it with you all :-) I hope you've had just the right amount of chocolate and aren't feeling too sick - I'm saving mine til after the show xxx
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Fishpond on a dreary evening - it was anything but dreary inside! Really cool venue and a lovely town. Also, I can honestly say that I've never seen so many fish and chip shops on one street! Tonight we're in Durham and actually I'm about to go on, so I'd better go! xx
Runcorn was fab - great to put some faces to Facebook names! Spooky lighting, fantastic sound in there and a full auditorium :-) Chatted to lots of enthusiastic people during the interval at The Met in Bury (and one crazy guy who difficult to please, but ah well, you can't win'em all). That day I busked in the sunshine on the High St and even got a bit of a sunglasses tan. Also unwittingly got filmed by Sky News as intro for the leader's debate yesterday evening. Apparently I was shown on TV for about 5 seconds - did any of you spot me in my bakerboy hat?
Tonight we're at The Fishpond in Matlock Bath. Drove through the Derby Dale's stunning countryside on the way here, passed Chatsworth House too and the beautiful deer park. On to Durham tomorrow. Hope you're all enjoying the Easter break :-) H xx Chipping Norton is such a gorgeous place and the theatre is so pretty and intimate - really enjoyed playing there to some more lovely people! Back home now and have tomorrow to prepare for the Northern leg of the tour that starts on Wednesday. Here is a little video I made yesterday afternoon during soundcheck - I apologise for my terrible film making skills, I'll try to improve next time :-) There are lots of new pics up on my Facebook page courtesy of Michael Butterworth, so do head over and check them out. H x What a fantastic start to the tour! The Convent Club was packed, Kathryn and Sean are really lovely people, I performed on a grand piano with one of the best quality sound systems I've ever used, there were lots of familiar faces in the crowd and plenty of new people to meet too, I couldn't have hoped for more! As you can see from the photo above, the gig was streamed live all round the world! There were people as far away as Australia watching and listening to us live, how cool is that?! And, what makes it even better is that for the next 7 days you can in fact catch up on the gig in crystal clear quality as if you were watching it live by following this link - https://theconvent.netgig.co.uk/event/kathryn-roberts-sean-lakeman/ - technology hey! I'll be putting up diary entry for every gig of the tour and there'll be a photo album on my Facebook Page so you can keep up with all the excitement. It's a sold out Chipping Norton Theatre tonight, and I'm sure I'll be seeing some of you there :-) I don't know about you, but I can't wait!
Lots of lurve ;-) x |
