Goeyemorgen Team, I hope you enjoyed your extra hour's sleep this morning. First of all I’d like to thank everybody who has preordered my forthcoming album so far. The crowdfunding is going really well! If you haven’t yet had a look at all the cool things on offer, head over to - http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/2nd-album and check ‘em out! I’ve now been in Holland for 5 days and it’s going great so far. We started off in Delft for a day and a half doing a bit of sightseeing and generally finding our feet. It was an interesting first morning to say the least when the top box lock got stuck so that we couldn’t close the lid. The lady running the B&B came out to help us after a few minutes and accidentally locked herself out of her own house. This resulted in me getting a leg up to climb the garden wall, shimmying along a slippery edge to the fire escape, coming in through the garden door, which was mercifully open, to then let her back in the front. We did eventually get the top box working again, and headed off into the centre of Delft to have an explore. The architecture there is stunning and we visited the church where William of Orange is laid to rest, as well as the Vermeer (Girl with the Pearl Earring) museum. We also saw some beautiful Delft pottery, the classic wooden tulips and of course a whole load of cheese (yum!) - I will have turned into a wheel of cheese by the time I return to the UK. Then that evening it was time to head to Zoetermeer, where we stayed for three nights and were incredibly well looked after. We got a bit lost on our way there and realised that we were on the correct motorway but heading in the wrong direction, oops, the roads here are a tad confusing, but we made it only a little bit more stressed than when we set off so all good. During our time in Zoetermeer I did a radio interview/session in Nieuwekerke An Der Issel, and a wonderful gig in Ichthus Church in partnership with the Eva Cassidy Fan Club. Dan Cassidy was there to play some songs with me, which was really special. Next we headed off to Rotterdam for gig number 2 at Matrix Club. Unfortunately we missed the turning to the road where we were supposed to park and since it was a one way street found ourselves trying to get back a different way, which turned out to be the wrong way - another one way street filled with pedestrians, down which we were driving the wrong way apparently (according to all the confused/disapproving looks we were getting), ah well, once again we got there in the end and all was ok. It was an intimate gig with great sound and fantastic to have Dan there performing with me again. Tonight we’re off to Hoorn to play at Cafe Swaf. Looks like Dan will come along to this one too before heading back to the UK tomorrow :-) More news to follow!
H xxx It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks! Apologies for missing the blog last week, I shall endeavour to make up for it now. My first gig up North was on the outskirts of York. I was greeted by a very lovely family and the largest amount of cake and profiteroles you’ve ever seen. Red Velvet, Chocolate, both absolutely enormous - naturally I had a bit of everything, with cream :-) luckily I waited til after the gig! The small crowd was made up of family and neighbours, which was perfect (though not nearly enough to get through the mountain of food), and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and hearing some street gossip. The next day we went for a gentle walk along the wildlife trail (too gentle to walk off all the cake I fear) and then had a pub lunch - well looked after doesn’t quite cover it! Here they are, the spoon-whittling, rol-profitering bunch. Next up was Bolton, and the largest amount of pie you've ever seen, oh and more cakes of course, and scones, brownies, cookies, and cupcakes (I’m starting to see a trend here - won’t be starving to death on tour any time soon, but may need to run/swim to Holland to get back in shape). Luckily there were more than 50 people there to help me eat it so I didn't feel too guilty. After we’d conquered the pie, everybody crammed themselves into a small marquee in the garden with blankets a plenty. I then did some serenading, answered some rather amusing questions and had an altogether wonderful time. It was fantastic to meet and chat to some serious Cambridge Folk Festival goers and general musos. Thank you for including me in your party! My next stop was Guisely, just outside Leeds. The weather was perfect, so my host took me for a beautiful walk up on the Chevin, where I was surprised and very pleased to find out I'd been before on my support tour with Kathryn and Sean. We looked out over Otley and beyond, watched some dry-stonewalling, and had a cuppa in the sunshine before heading back to get ready for the evening. That night I played to a packed conservatory, and once again chatted to a very musical audience. No cake this time, phew, but plenty of delicious food all the same. Here are the fundraising scoundrels, who raised several hundred pounds for Marie Curie that night. Head to my Facebook page for more pics later. The next day I met some of the hosts’ gorgeous grandkids, who I was very lucky to be befriended by, and we went for a wander around Bolton Abbey, once more in the sunshine. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your family, I honestly felt a little emotional when my new 3 year-old friends went off with their Mum. My host very kindly drove me into Leeds that night for the final gig of my Northern leg. I supported the brilliantly mad Rainbow Girls at Oporto Bar, before heading back and falling asleep immediately. What a trip! I'll remember it for a long time to come. No rest for the wicked! When I got home it was straight into preparations and rehearsals for the final part of recording my Christmas single/EP “Turn On The Lights”. We were recording the choir section so quite a few people involved and lots to organise. Here I am with the usual suspects feeling in the spirit. The single is being mixed and finished off today, whoop, so maybe I’ll give you a sneaky preview soon :-) Also in the process of organising the music video which is being filmed this weekend. The money made from downloads of the single is going to be donated to a military charity, so your help in spreading the word will be vital. More details to follow! Back to the tour and this weekend just gone. On Friday I was in Kenilworth at the very cosy Tree House Bookshop. Thanks to Victoria and Tim for welcoming me into the land of squishy chairs. We filmed the first ever session for “Tree House Confessions” (watch this space), ate pizza and then I performed to a sell out audience, whoop! So good to see some of my Living Room Tour Hosts and friends there, even though they’d heard me just a couple of weeks before! You guys are the best! That night I was put up by my new friends Lewis and Charlotte who hold open mic nights at Tree House Bookshop. Top musical chat and an explore of Kenilworth Castle where they are starting a series of gigs. As ever it was a joy to meet you all. I continued on my way and headed up to Spilsby in Lincolnshire for my next gig. Spilsby Theatre is a rather magical place I think. It’s in need of some love and attention (and funding as it’s falling apart in some places), but Bruce, who runs the place is gradually nursing it back to health with passion and dedication. Fingers crossed in 3 years time it’ll be as good as new! I was performing in the speakeasy style bar area with support from Suffolk based artist Fern Teather. The gig was organised by Andrew Skinner in aid of "Teenage Cancer Trust” and in the end it was a sell out so we raised £160 for the charity - well done team! The final gig of the weekend was at Strawhouse Studios in Rugby. I quickly became best pals with Toby the Collie and was offered his favourite stick to throw in the park. My hosts were equally as accommodating and made us a huge and delicious roast lunch followed by home made apple crumble. I haven’t felt that full since Christmas and needed a bit of a lie down. Later, with my kit set up and the candles lit there were a few minutes left to mingle with the audience before a cosy gig commenced. Afterwards chat followed long into the evening along with a few bubbles and some cheese. The next day I had a bit of a tour around the studios and learned some of the history of the host's record label before getting back in the car and home to Gloucestershire. What I have loved most about this tour is the variation of people and places. The only constant has been that everyone I have met has been genuinely lovely and happy to welcome me into their homes, families and lives. It's been an incredible few weeks and with just one house gig to go I'd like to thank anybody and everybody who has played even the smallest part in making this tour special. I really hope I get to do the whole thing again next year.
I'm off to Holland in less than 2 weeks time, aaaaaaaaaaa! Before I go there are still a couple of opportunities for you to catch me at a gig: Oct 8th - Sofar Sounds, Oxford Oct 9th - Living Room Gig, Whitminster Oct 10th, 3pm - Instore at Rise Records, Cheltenham Oct 16th - Forest Folk & Roots, Cranfield Bedfordshire - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/327972 So much excitement I can hardly contain myself! Also, there are whisperings of a new album on the horizon. Keep a look out for more details and ways you can get involved this weekend. It's the final of Bake Off tonight - enjoy! I will - I know all about cake :-) H xxx 6 gigs in 4 days - that must be a personal record, and a mad few days they were! I started off this week’s gigs in beautiful Frome with an exploding egg (tip: never advise somebody ((especially somebody you’ve only just met)) to put their boiled egg in the microwave when they haven’t cooked it for long enough - it will explode all over their face and hair when they put a knife in the top), pizza and plenty of very musical guests (no pressure). What a wonderful audience they were - it was a joyous evening! Once again I forgot to take the selfie at the end of my set so most people had headed off into the night, but here are the hardcore who stayed for extra drink and chat. Next on the menu was Chichester (where I grew up). That afternoon I played a little set at a local care home where a family friend is in residence, then I headed off to Fishbourne and the best cucumber pickle I have ever tasted (also the only cucumber pickle I’ve ever tasted, but I’m sure it would still be the best even if I’d had it every week for the last year). A crowd perfectly fitted to the size of the living room assembled and it was extremely cosy with everyone squeezed onto sofas and armchairs. Another truly lovely bunch of people and this time I remembered to take the selfie, yay! On the Friday afternoon I headed over to Shoreham by Sea for a gig at West St Loft with my friends Laura and Adam of Hickory Signals. The converted loft space is one of my favourite venues around - cosy and intimate while still having room for 50 - 100 people. The chairs are old school cinema seats and the place always has a warm vibe. Like the last time I played there, Hickory Signals and I collaborated on the majority of my set, which was great fun and made for a slightly different sound - flute solos and excellent improvised drumming is a speciality of their’s along with some beautiful harmonies of course! On Saturday morning I set off back to Gloucestershire to play at a wedding, but this was no ordinary wedding gig. To cut a long story short - I had been booked separately by both the bride and groom as a surprise for each other - great minds and all that. You can imagine the plotting and scheming that had to go on with the venue manager behind the scenes in order to make sure that the timings were the same and that neither of them found out that neither of them would be surprised. I ended up arriving with all my kit and setting up while they were in the ceremony so that nobody would see me. When the bride and groom came down the steps into the sunshine and I started to play "All About Love" as their first dance, there was a moment where they must have thought each other very ungrateful, but all was swiftly explained and there were smiles all round. Here I am with the happy couple. You may think that my week was over there, but no no, the adventure continued and I found myself in the familiar surroundings of the Stroud Subscription Rooms to open the Stroud Festival Concert that evening. As always the sound there was fantastic, the welcome incredibly warm and the number of familiar faces a plenty. It was a fantastic way to end the third leg of my UK tour. Thanks to everybody who came along! I have some very exciting gigs coming up in between my equally exciting living room shows during the next few weeks: September 28th, 8:30pm - Oporto Bar, Leeds - FREE ENTRY! October 2nd, 8pm - Tree House Book Shop, Kenilworth, Warwickshire - http://www.wegottickets.com/TreeHouseBookshop October 3rd, 7:30pm - Spilsby Theatre Cafe, support from Fern Teather - to reserve tickets 01790 752936 October 4th, 6:30pm - Strawhouse Studio, Rugby, Warwickshire - https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/200394 This is a public living room gig so only 10 tickets available! I recorded a new cover (above) earlier this week for your enjoyment :-) Finally I must tell you that we had to say goodbye to our beloved bear at the weekend, almost a year to the day since the release of “Old Eyes”. Panda was a gentle soul, a loyal friend and cherished childhood companion. He will be missed by our family and many of our friends but never forgotten. Panda Briggs - 1999 - 2015, RIP.
I'm off up North tomorrow for my next set of gigs! More news when I get back :-) Until then, H xxx Stage 2 of my Living Room adventure is now complete and I have much to tell you - dragons, war, love, lust, betrayal, heart-break, Kings and Queens…oh no wait, that’s game of thrones - our tales are so similar I got confused. Anyway, my journey began on Friday with an interview at BBC Radio Oxford. I played “Tilly’s Song” live and spoke with Ali Jones about how much has happened since I quit University last January. If you’d like to catch up on the interview you can do so here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p030s9gf - I’m about 1hr 30 into the programme. From Oxford I headed on to Harpenden, which is beautiful, and as I was super early I decided to go for an explore. I wandered around the town, had one of the best smoothies ever (strawberry, papaya etc) and then had a very enjoyable walk around the common. The common is pretty huge (much of it is golf course) so I was walking for a long time, over 2 hours, and I did get lost a couple of times as the posts with the arrows marking the trail are few and far between (there has never been a more perfect opportunity to use that phrase!). The journey was perilous, but I managed, despite the stray golf balls and my growing hunger, to avoid the poisonous berries that surrounded my path at every turn (who needs Game of Thrones hey?! Oh yeh, I do.) and to make it back to the car unscathed. I then headed off to meet my hosts and set up for the gig that evening. And what a gig it was! There was music (obviously), dancing, some jousting dwarves, a whole wild boar roasted…oh no wait, that’s Game of Thrones again, shucks. It really was a fantastic gig though, with laughter, tears, audience participation and lots of lovely people to talk to, yay! Here’s a pic of the tennis-playing, table-laying, club-daying, midnight-staying bunch, thanks for a great evening Team! The next day I headed back to Gloucestershire for an afternoon garden party, family gathering gig, and wow, what a sizeable family gathering it was! There were even relatives from Chile, who’d come over specially to see me perform (I lie, they were actually there because the host’s son has recently got married to a lovely Chilean girl), and it was amazing to have such a ranges of ages and nationalities in the audience. It was also really nice to play in a marquee on a warm day that was probably the last day of summer, waaaaaaa. Here is a small segment of the brownie-eating, outdoor-seating, cloud-defeating clan, you were wonderful! Apologies for the references to Game of Thrones. I have recently finished the last book in the series so far, and am now having serious withdrawal symptoms. If you have suffered this illness previously, perhaps you could suggest some possible cures. Next I must thank all of you for supporting the release of “Tilly’s Song” single and video. I really appreciate all of your likes, comments, shares and retweets, and it’s down to you that we’ve already passed 1000 views on YouTube. I’m also very happy to tell you that the single is now available to download from all online stores, and to stream from Spotify among others. Here are the iTunes and Amazon links in case you missed them - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/tillys-song-single/id1037277110, http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01554QNXI, and don’t forget that there are signed, numbered (1-100) limited edition CDs of Tilly’ Song available via the shop page - http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/shop - grab them quick before they’re all gone!
On the subject of Tilly’s Song, PennyblackMusic published this fantastic review of it last week that I'm really chuffed with - http://www.pennyblackmusic.co.uk/MagSitePages/Review/10108/R/Hattie-Briggs-Download-Tillys-Song. Lastly I must mention some gigs, as really that’s what this whole thing is about (and not Game of Thrones, which is definitely a good thing as all the main characters in the books seem to get killed off all the time or captured and put in a dungeon, or pushed off a cliff, even the singers, and that wouldn’t be ideal so this is much better). And I have 2 regular (non-living-room) gigs coming up this week: Sept 18th - West St Loft, Shoreham - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/328941 - this is a very small venue and I know that most of the tickets have gone already so booking is definitely the safer option. Sept 19th - Stroud Folk Festival, Stroud Sub Rooms - http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?agency=SUBSCRIPTION&organ_val=22548 - I’m on at 6pm on the Saturday. Final final thing is that I’m looking for a LIVING ROOM GIG or 2 on the 28th/29th of November, somewhere in the vicinity of Peterborough/Cambridge/Norwich. If you’re interested in finding out more, please email me on info@hattiebriggs.co.uk. Cheers ma dears! H xxx Well hello there! Here we are again and I have lots more news for you because as a wise girl once said "no news is not good news (unless the news is bad news), but this news isn't of that kind". So anyway, my Living Room Tour has started with a bang, and I have 3 very different, but very wonderful gigs to tell you about! My first gig of the tour was in Cofton Hackett near Birmingham and I managed to get there on time without filling up with the wrong fuel (I’m borrowing my Mum’s car because I can’t fit everything into mine) or getting lost, despite there being a crash on the M5, which I managed to avoid rather expertly - well done me! That evening I performed for a small but perfectly formed bunch of lovely people, and to their dog called Ruby, who seemed to have powers unknown to her owners. I kid you not, half way through “Old Eyes” (which is about my dog) Ruby came into the room, stood right in front of me and stared deep into my eyes, before lying down and staying there for the rest of the song, after which she got up and walked out again. It was so weird and wonderful, we couldn’t quite believe it! Luckily we’ve got a picture for proof :-) The next day I went into Birmingham to catch up with a friend who has just started a teaching job there. We went for a very enjoyable walk in the park and stumbled upon a flowers and vegetable show. I honestly didn’t realise leeks could get that big - you could feed a small army with a couple of those. Then in the late afternoon I headed off to Halesowen for a gig that couldn’t have been more different from the night before. The living room was absolutely crammed - we had people sitting on the floor and people standing at the back as well as people on chairs in the middle. What a bonkers group of people! It was a brilliant evening, really interactive with questions asked about how the songs were written and how my mind works (I don't know!). It was filled with laughter, enthusiasm and crowd participation - I really couldn’t ask for more, and it was lovely to meet so many of you and have a proper chat before and afterwards. On to gig number 3 in London. My journey there wasn't quite as smooth as I'd hoped, with every other road closed, but I got there in the end to a very welcoming group and the most perfect living room, which must have been unconsciously designed with private gigs in mind. The evening was opened by a newly formed trio made up of the host and 2 friends, who had us all singing along in no time. “Jolene” and “Wagon Wheel” were included in the very well chosen set list. Then it was my turn, and once again I couldn’t have asked for a more attentive audience, or more hummus and pitta bread! Apologies to those who aren't in the photo because I forgot to take it until half of you had left. The one thing that all these gigs had in common was that everybody I met was really lovely and I was looked after amazingly well. Also, everyone massively over catered on the food so will probably be living on pork pie, crisps, sausage rolls and dips for the next month, but ah well, there are worse things. Thank you so much to my first three hosts and everybody else who made me feel welcome. If this is anything to go by, the tour is going to be a huge success! The next thing to say is that Tilly’s Song has now been released on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/tillys-song-single/id1037277110 and will be available on all other online stores from this Sunday. Thanks for all your support with liking and sharing the music video https://youtu.be/I9Q5868iRMY - it's almost up to 1000 views on YouTube already! If you’d like to purchase Tilly’s Song as a LIMITED EDITION CD then look no further, as they are now available via my “shop” page http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/shop - 100 copies numbered and signed. These are selling fast so get in there quick before they're all gone!
Talking of my website, the Holland tour now has it’s own page, so for full gigs listings, updates etc head over to http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/holland-tour. Crikey, this is a long one! Last thing - I have 3 non-tour gigs coming up this month all of which I am greatly looking forward to: Sept 18th, West St Loft, Shoreham - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/328941 Sept 19th, Stroud Folk Festival, Stroud Sub Rooms - 01453 760900 or http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?agency=SUBSCRIPTION&organ_val=22548 Sept 28th, Oporto Bar, Leeds - FREE ENTRY For full details and listings - http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/current-gigs I hope you can make it!! Laterz, H xxx Happy Friday to you all! I hope you're not feeling too depressed over the loss of that precious tan, and that now your faces are smooth and soft - cleansed by the constant drizzle and buffered by the wind. Edinburgh was a wee bit mad! It started very well when we got to the airport with lots of time to spare, but descended into stressful cursing when we found out that our bag was over the weight limit. 20 minutes later, after taking 2 boxes of CDs out of the bag, buying another bag for them to go as hand luggage, and checking in my guitar so that we were allowed more weight allowance on the first bag, we were back to a (less calm than we were originally) state of calm. As per usual on the flight I was sitting next to somebody with a cold who was coughing much of the time in my general direction. Luckily it was a short flight as trying not to breathe in too deeply gets pretty tiring very quickly. But enough of that, we made it in the end with all our luggage, some humour, and good health in tact to our Air B&B on the outskirts of Edinburgh. For the next few days we did a lot of exploring, plenty of lugging heavy stuff around while trying to avoid all the people handing out flyers, I did some busking and performed outside a touring milk float, was a guest performer at Alice Fraser’s panel show “Love Bites”, went to see the Edinburgh Tattoo (we got lucky and were offered a couple of tickets as it was sold out the whole time we were there), and saw some fantastic comedy performances - a pretty busy few days! The weather was good (better than at home actually), and we only got soaked through once while trying to catch the bus back to the B&B - great success! Here are a few pics - on Blackford Hill, busking outside Waverley Station, the milk float gig, "Love Bites", and the Tattoo. The next snippet of excitement is that Tilly’s Song music video is now finished and will be coming out with the single towards the end of September. You can check out the artwork at the top. I hope you’ve been able to catch the track (banjo and all) on local radio as it’s had quite a few plays already. If not, keep an eye on my Facebook page as I’ll keep posting the catch-up links. Here are some taster pics. As you can see, Tilly and I went back in time to film the video with our younger selves. I'm incredibly happy to say that what started off as one Living Room gig in Rotterdam has now turned into a 16 date tour of The Netherlands, wahoo, I can't wait! The line up so far is on the poster below. The last 3 dates available for fitting in last minute gigs are as follows - 28/10, 6/11 & 11/11. Finally, my Living Room Tour of the UK is about to start! I'll be on the road all through September and into the beginning of October and am so looking forward to meeting you all, many for the first time! During the tour I will also be performing at some music venues for which tickets will be available to the public, these include:
Sept 18th - West St Loft, Shoreham Sept 19th - Stroud Folk Festival, Subscription Rooms, Stroud Sept 28th - Gaslight Session, Oporto Bar, Leeds Oct 2nd - Tree House Book Shop, Kenilworth Oct 3rd - Spilsby Theatre Bar, Spilsby For ticket links and full gigs list head over to my current gigs page http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/current-gigs and I hope to bump into you soon! Stay cool (shouldn't be too tricky, brrrrr), Hattisha x Evening Team! I hope you’re all suitably excited about the new season off GB Bake Off and today’s cricket shenanigans. Good timing as there’s not much sunbathing to be done. I have some tasty snippets of news, some tour updates and tales of a packed festival weekend. First I should mention that I’m gigging this Saturday evening, the 8th, at Painswick Golf Club as part of Artburst Festival. Doors open at 7pm and there is a posh ploughman’s dinner included in the ticket price. You can grab your tickets online - http://www.painswickartsfestival.com/hattie-briggs-concert-at-painswick-golf-club OR via the phone number on the poster above. If you’re planning on coming along I would advise reserving tickets as they are selling fast. Also happening this Saturday 8th - I’m going to be on SKY ARTS TV! Henry, Barney and I filmed a session with them during Cambridge Folk Festival at the weekend and it’s going to be aired at around 9pm. So if you can’t come to the gig in Painswick you can watch us on your TV screen instead, and if you can come you’ll have to record it :-) Speaking of Cambridge, I can honestly say that it was EPIC. The response to our set couldn’t have been better, I met loads of lovely, helpful and interesting people (including Peggy Seeger!), and saw some unbelievably talented artists doing their thing! Some of my highlights were Lewis & Leigh, Stornoway, The Lone Bellow, Nick Mulvey, the Sam Kelly Trio and the John Butler Trio. I wish I could do it all over again - fingers crossed for next year! On Sunday we headed back to Gloucestershire for Guiting Power Festival and amazingly the sun shone on our sleepy village field to make it a very enjoyable afternoon all round. There were nearly as many dogs in the audience as people so “Old Eyes” went down a treat, and we got free pie after our performance! It was top pie - in fact I’m thinking this should be on my rider from now on, so I may have gained a few pounds the next time I see you. The final things to mention are my trips to Edinburgh and Holland! I’ll certainly be doing some busking around Edinburgh during the fringe, but do let me know if you or a friend/family member would like to host a house concert - info@hattiebriggs.co.uk My Holland tour is now looking pretty darn busy, which is awesome. This is going to be a real adventure and I hope that some of you can make it along to these gigs. There are some still to be confirmed, but below is pretty much the full list. I’ll definitely be doing some busking around the place too, so please get in touch if you have any suggestions of where might be a good place to go! Apologies if this blog was overly distracting and the cake you were baking is now burnt. Put some extra icing on it and no one will know.
Toodles! H x Evening folks! I hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine and the tennis :-) I’m back from Italy and ready to get stuck in again! This morning I did a photoshoot with Rob Wheatman at the beautiful Stonehouse Court hotel - http://www.wheatmanphotography.co.uk. Here’s a little preview. Had two great gigs last weekend - a tea party show in Cheltenham for Maggie’s Cancer Charity, and a fantastic house gig near Worcester. Can’t wait for my living room tour in September! Lots more shows coming up in the next few weeks/months - head over to my gigs page to find out when I’ll be somewhere near you - http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/current-gigs This weekend coming I’ll be doing two shows. On Saturday I’ll be at The Drawing Room in Chesham (see the poster below for details) and then on Sunday evening I’ll be doing a Sofar Sounds gig (I would tell you all about it except that it’s a secret). Also, very excitingly, I’m going to be making some new recordings for y’all this weekend. Off to Producer Pete’s on Thursday for some preproduction and then back into the studio on Saturday and Sunday. I won’t tell you what the tracks are yet, but I will say that they’ll be added onto Red & Gold later this year to make a Deluxe edition of the album. Waaaaaaaa can’t wait! I love being in the studio :-) Maybe I’ll give you a little preview while we’re in there…watch this space. Finally and very importantly, I can now say that my music is available to buy in high street shops! The vinyl of Red & Gold is in Rise Records stores in Cheltenham and Bristol, and don’t forget that the CD and vinyl are available at Stroud Subscription Rooms. Ok team, I think that’s all for now.
Ciao! Hat Bat x Pic by Eric Hobson. I hope you had a wonderful long weekend and relaxed to the max. Perhaps you did some hula dancing and then made a statue of the Eiffel Tower out of chocolate fingers. That's what I would have done had I not had two gigs to play. I'm very pleased to tell you that my new music video for "Share Your Heart", which features contemporary dancer Callum Osbourne, is now out! See below. It was filmed at Nailsworth Sub Rooms, which is a new favourite place of mine after the fantastic sell out gig we did there last weekend! This weekend's gigs were pretty full-on. I headed up to London on Friday to rehearse with a very jet-lagged Henry before our gig that evening in Soho. It was great to see some old school friends in the audience amid the new faces. Then it was back to my place on Saturday for more rehearsing with Hen and Asha for our performance at Bushcraft Festival on Sunday. I have certainly never played a gig like it! Everybody was wandering around in camo gear with knives at the hips for activities like learning how to skin rabbits. And during the gig there were people in the audience who were whittling wooden spoons while they listened! We were in a threepee (three teepees joined together) with one side open to the outside. It was a little chilly I have to say, but one nice lady who had a stall selling outdoor gear swapped a signed CD for a new fleece so I was quite cosy after that. Who knew that CDs could be such useful bargaining tools?!
So unfortunately there was no time for the chocolate finger Eiffel Tower, but now I have some time off so maybe I'll get round to it in the next few days. I'm going to Italy for two weeks on Saturday so you may not hear from me for a bit, but I'll be straight back into gigging when I get back! There'll even be some recording going on in June, which I'm super excited about. More on that later... My website has been updated in the last few days and you can now listen to the entire album via my tracks page: http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/tracks Similarly, the lyrics to all my songs are now on my lyrics page: http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/lyrics To check out my new gigs: http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk/current-gigs The living room/small venues tour that I'm organising for the Autumn is coming along very nicely and there'll be a poster out soon so you'll be able to see if I'm visiting a town near you. I can still fit one or two more into September if you are interested in a house gig. Pop me an email if it's something you'd like to discuss. That's all for now amigos. Hopefully when I see you again I'll be much more tanned! H xxx Spring is here and I'm so ready for it! The album, the single, the tour, meeting loads of you lovely people, sunshine, exploring new places - I can hardly contain my excitement! I'm sure many of you have spotted this already, but incase you've missed it, here is my music video for "A Beautiful Mind", which comes out on iTunes on April 6th (same day as the album). I'm really proud of it so I hope you like it too! Just a heads up - if you preorder the album on iTunes from the 23rd March onwards, you'll get "A Beautiful Mind" as an instant grat to download and listen to early :-) Also with regards to the album - as a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has preordered a physical copy via my website, we're going to send you lovely people your CDs early so you'll have them before the end of March! Even if you preorder now, we'll still send it to you early - all you have to do is head to my "shop" page :-) In other news, I was up in London on Wednesday doing a photoshoot for Psychologies Magazine - I'm going to be in the June issue :-) It was great fun swanning around Camden in various different outfits and having my hair and makeup done, and the sun was out - I could get used to this! It's less than a week to go now until my album launch gigs! Although Cheltenham has sold out, there are still tickets available for The Old Queens Head on March 26th (Thurs) - more details on the poster below and here's the ticket link: https://www.musicglue.com/yucatanrecords/events/26-mar-15-yucatan-presents-old-queens-head/ I've been writing some new material too - finished a really upbeat song today! I know, so unlike me! Not sure what's come over me - it must be all the vitamin D I'm getting. Ah, I love spring :-) Enjoy the sunshine (and eclipses)!
We're so nearly there, thanks for being patient! Loads of love, Hattie xx |
