Been in Oxford for a couple of days doing open mic nights and organising some gigs. Played at The Cape of Good Hope last night with Henry and doing the Catweazle Club this evening. Got a gig booked in at The Corridor for the end of Feb and waiting to hear from several other venues in Cowley about dates.
Off to Pete's tomorrow to work on Pull Me Down, then home for the weekend to do some busking as it's supposed to be sunny! Will let you know where I'll be nearer the time. 2 videos for YouTube due this weekend, I haven't forgotten! H x Evening all,
I finished writing a new song today on the piano :) it's called 'All About Love' and will probably be on the summer EP, yay! I have another one on the go as well so all's good in the writing department. In other news, I was played on BBC introducing this evening in 39 counties - that's a lot of listeners! Mark Forrest played 'Where Your Love Should Be', one of the tracks from my debut EP - you can have a listen to it on my tracks page if it has eluded you up til now. I'll put the link up on the website when it appears on iPlayer :) Bye for now. H x Hope you had a good Monday!
Today I met up with some world class musicians, John Giblin (bassist) and Jeremy Drew (drummer and producer) at Yellow Shark Studios in Cheltenham. John heard me busking the other day outside M and S. We're planning to get together a couple of other musicians as well and do a recording session in the next couple of weeks, perhaps live and filmed, perhaps not. At the moment the song choice is 'May You Never' by John Martyn, I can't wait! Have a great week :) H x Hello hello! Sorry this is a day late http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO8HGDNf6QE - I hope you enjoy it, comment, share etc! I think 2 videos a week is doable amount so I'll stick to that for now. Keep posting suggestions if you have any.
I have a potentially exciting meeting coming up tomorrow, which may lead to some studio recording - I'll let you know the plan tomorrow evening when I know, but keep your eyes peeled :) Up to Oxford on Wednesday to see friends and do an open mic night with Henry at the Cape of Good Hope, then on to Pete's on Thurs or Fri to finish off the recording of Pull Me Down. H x It's supposed to be sunny at 12ish so I'll head into Stroud at 11:30ish for a hour or so of busking on my usual corner by the Ale House. If that spot is taken I may be by Millets. Haven't busked at the Farmer's Market since the summer - fingers crossed people don't get put off by the cold.
Another YouTube cover coming your way tomorrow. I think I may do 'Put Your Records On' by Corrine Bailey Rae. See you then, H x So on Tuesday I headed to Bristol's Louisiana for a casual acoustic gig in their cellar, it went pretty well I think, so hopefully I'll be up there again soon.
Yesterday I was in the studio with my producer Pete. We got down most of 'Pull me Down' and it's sounding fab so really excited about that - just backing vocals, bass and maybe some acoustic guitar to go on. Had some amazing instrumentalists come in and help us out, but I won't give too much away. Will get another video recorded and up on YouTube tomorrow so look out for that one. The weather doesn't look great for the next three days so I'll keep you posted on the busking side of things - fingers crossed for Stroud on Saturday :) H x I spent today tweaking Pull Me Down, which is now ready to go - so excited for Wednesday! Also listened to, learned and filmed Riptide by Vance Joy for Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HGlBjA1qUU. I hope you like my version. Please feel free to comment, and if you haven't already, please subscribe to my channel. Have started to do blogging on the video as well, and very proud of myself for managing to edit it all together. These things are so much easier on Apple Macs! Tomorrow I'll be polishing Pull me Down and practicing for the gig in Bristol in the evening. Please come along and support if you can - the details are on my events page. H x
Lovely to see some of you in Cheltenham today, thanks for your support! If you're nearby on the 15th Feb, come and see me perform at the Cheltenham Folk Festival, I have 3 slots that afternoon - see my events page for times, locations etc. Hats x
Leaving for Cheltenham in a few. Fingers crossed there's no one in my usual spot today like last week.
I was played on BBC introducing yesterday - Tilly's Song. Did lots of work on 'Pull me Down' yesterday afternoon and it's definitely getting there! H x The weather forecast is looking ok at the moment, so I will be busking in Cheltenham on Sunday morning, either near M and S or outside Cavendish House. Come and say hello if you are passing. H x
