I can't quite believe my album will be out in a months time! Really excited to show you the artwork. The photo was taken by my cousin at her house in West Sussex. It feels like yesterday that we were in the studio at Monnow Valley, but a crazy amount has happened since then and I'm off on my first national tour in 3 weeks time! I found out yesterday that I've passed 90,000 views on YouTube, that's insane, thank you so much for all your support. I had such a great night on Tuesday supporting Grant Nicholas (Feeder) at Gloucester Guildhall. Met some really lovely people - it's always nice when people come up and say hello. I'm hoping to meet loads of you on tour as I'll be playing to over 8,000 people in total. If you'd told me I'd be doing that when I quit university last January I would have head-butted you in the squirrel, no joke. Speaking of the tour...I'll be bringing lots of new merch with me! The album will be available on CD and vinyl which will be awesome, AND we've had lots of fun putting my face on a bag (scroll down for a pic). If you'd like to buy a bag with my face on it (what?!), they are available via the shop on my website now. The vinyl will be out from the 6th. Don't forget that if you come to one of my launch gigs then you can get the album before the release date, and if you've preordered it already then you can pick it up early! Cheltenham has sold out but there are still some tickets available for my gig at The Old Queens Head, Islington on March 26th - https://www.musicglue.com/yucatanrecords/events/26-mar-15-yucatan-presents-old-queens-head/ My producer Peter Waterman has been down this week to record some new demos and help finalise things for the album release, woooooo. We've also been doing some very important things like dog walks and tea drinking. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I'm hoping to busk at the farmer's market in Stroud so do come and say hi if you're around.
See you soon! H x What a fantastic night we had on Saturday performing to a packed-out Pitchcombe village hall! Nothing beats a home crowd, and it was great to add some new songs into the set for y'all to hear for the first time - it seemed like they got the thumbs up :-) Huge thanks for your lovely support as always!
My album launch gigs are edging nearer :-) Can't wait to share my album with you a few days before it comes out on iTunes! Come along to one of these gigs to grab your copy: March 25th, 8pm, Everyman Theatre Studio (very few tickets left) - http://www.everymantheatre.org.uk/m-shows/buzz-buzz-buzz-presents-hattie-briggs/ March 26th, 7:30pm, The Old Queens Head, Islington, London (joint headline with The Kings Parade) - http://www.musicglue.com/yucatanrecords/events/26-mar-15-yucatan-presents-old-queens-head/ There's still much to look forward to in February: 17th - The Lucky Pig, Soho, doors 6:30 - Free Entry :-) 20th - Ilminster Arts Centre, 8pm - http://www.themeetinghouse.org.uk/music/1178 28th - Lavant House School, Chichester, 7:30 - http://www.lavanthouse.org.uk/hattie-briggs-concert.html Last week I visited the Olney Headwear Factory in Luton as they are sponsoring me for my album tour :-) While I was there I got to see how the hats are made, try loads of them on, and choose some to take home with me! Below I'm with David Olney (it's still a family run business) watching this nice lady finish off the trim on my very own trilby :-) To see some more pics from my visit to the factory, head to my Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/HattieBriggsMusic/ Things are already moving super fast this year! January has nearly gone and we've already got 41 gigs booked in for this year!! I'm bound to be playing a show somewhere near you soon, so make sure to check out my gigs page for listings and more details/ticket links :-) Coming up in February: Feb 5th - The Green Note, Camden - this is a tiny venue known for it's incredible atmosphere. If you're in London you should definitely come to this one, but make sure you book as it frequently sells out. I'm on 8:30 - 9 and doors open at 7pm. I'll be supporting a real favourite of Bob Harris - Mississippi Delta songbird, Bronwynne Brent. Grab your tickets here before they're gone! http://www.greennote.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2868 Feb 7th - Pitchcombe Village Hall - this is a headline gig near Stroud and I'll be performing as a trio. This gig has very nearly sold out, so I'd be wary of trying to get tickets on the door. Email tickets@pitchcombe.com or call 01453 763330 to reserve yours. Feb 28th - Lavant House School, Chichester, West Sussex - very like the gig I did at Westbourne House last spring, there'll be drinks and nibbles and lots of music from me and my two cellists :-) For tickets - http://www.lavanthouse.org.uk/hattie-briggs-concert.html Launch gigs! The first opportunity to get your hands on my album will be at The Everyman Studio on March 25th, or in London at The Old Queens Head, Islington on the 26th! The album doesn't come out on iTunes until April 6th so this is your chance to be one of the first to own it. I've only recently decided to make the Everyman show a launch gig and it's almost sold out already (less than 10 tickets left), so you'd better be quick if you'd like to come along! Here's the link - https://www.everymantheatre.org.uk/m-tickets/event/buzz-buzz-buzz-presents-hattie-briggs/6181/ The Old Queens Head will be more of an official album launch and I'll be joint headlining with an awesome 4 piece band from London called the Kings Parade! Check them out online if you haven't heard of them before as these guys are going places. The ticket link for this gig isn't up yet but I'll be posting it soon so keep an eye out. In other news, I filmed a new music video last week for "A Beautiful Mind", the single coming out the same day as the album itself. Can't wait for you to see it! Here's a pic for you :-) Lastly, I'm currently choosing what merch to take on tour and I'd love to know what kind of thing you'd like to take away from a gig as a souvenir, apart from a copy of the album. If you've got any ideas/suggestions please email me: hattiebriggsmusic@gmail.com and I'll do my best to get some cool stuff organised! Bear hugs all round, Hats x What a busy week! 1 x broken cello, 1 x broken van, 1 x BBC radio interview, hundreds of miles covered, loads of lovely new fans met, 4 gigs played! Thanks so much to everyone who came along and/or spread the word about the tour. Cambridge, Norwich, Ipswich, Bradford on Avon, it was a pleasure!
I'm now off to France on holiday for a week with Tilly (of Tilly's song). Just about to board my plane in fact! When I get back I've got a gig in London at Surya, Kings Cross on the 28th so I'll see you then :-) Have a great week! In case you haven't heard by now, the big news of the last couple of days is that I'm off on a national support tour from March 28th to May 2nd! I'll be supporting the fabulous folk duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman all around the country and then doing some headline dates of my own in May. The Album will be available to buy at gigs throughout the tour and there are over 25 dates so hopefully I'll be coming to a city near you! Starting the year as I mean to go on, I've got a fab local gig on New Year's Eve. It's in Painswick at a beautiful little hotel and bistro called Cardynham House. It'll be an evening of wonderful food interspersed with bursts of song from yours truly :-) There are limited tables for this one and most have already gone, so if you're up for it I'd suggest booking a table via 01452 810030 to avoid disappointment. If you can't make it to that gig, fear not as I've got loads of other gigs coming up! I'm doing a mini tour of East Anglia, as you can see from the poster above I'm playing Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich, all at great venues.
